This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

$50 for hitting a pedestrian in a crosswalk, cheap. How much of a fine for hitting a motorcyclist stopped at a red light? Novak's license should be suspended or revoked and he should be sitting eating meals behind bars at taxpayers expense. Novak, who helped to out Valerie Plame again acts innocently. He is a danger to people and should be retired post haste!

Please treat him as anybody else who runs over a pedestrian, and leaves the scene. He should be arrested.
Let him pay for this crime. He's not a politician, but a reporter.

The poor guy was probably unconscious after leaving the club. What happened to 15 days community service? Now with any luck the victim will sue the old goat for a new ZO6 vette next year plus pain and suffering . Next he might try suing DC itself for lack of protection from old decrepit politicians and there spin doctors. Wake up , make the jerks pay the price for being the idiots they are. Yes the powerful can be beaten.

$50? seriously? Thats incentive, if people knew they're only getting a $50 ticket, that's incentive to hit more pedestrians. I got fined $150 for turning left one time because it was between 7-9am

I own a corvette; it's a low car. How can you not see someone? Was he driving against the sun or what? And if you hit a person, you're going to hear a good sounding thump.

$50 fine for hit and run with (presumably) bodily injury. Sounds like the third world country of Florida.

Remember one must not be bothered to stop when running over a peasant in your carriage. I assume he failed to doff his hat to His Majesty Novak. Rough fellow should know better than to use a cross walk. One hopes he at least bowed before he was hit.

Novak is a criminal, who despite his douche-bag-ness has gotten away with whatever because, "Oh... [he] didn't know!" Screw him. He ought to be in jail. He is a pathetic, sorry excuse for a human being. He should rot in our prison system for treason AND hit-and-run. We all know that 10% of our total population is in jail, and are in for less than what he has managed to do just in the last 5 years.

If he was anyone else he would.

I guess it is good to be a friend of the King (Cheney). If anyone deserves capital punishment, it would be him.

My girlfriend wreaked her car on a private dirt road and left the scene to get aid... They took her to jail because she left the scene and then fined her $500. No, she did not drink or use drugs, but that was why they were mad at her... they could not test her by the time they caught up with her.
Yes, it pays to be rich...
It is, as it should be, up to the police and/or friends and relatives to the report people that need to be rechecked for driving privileges... BUT, a) it rarely seems to happen and b) that does not necessary stop anyone from driving... Unless you take their vehicle(s) too, most people I know with suspended or revoked licences still drive and no longer have insurance too...
Maybe we should have licences that plug into the car, like credit cards, and then that might help keep some of the idiots off the roads...

Who gave this guy license to out a CIA agent, denigrate liberals at every opportunity AND drive a hot car most of us could never afford to hit a pedestrian, leave the scene of the accident and only get a slight fine?

In 2002, Novak's attitudes towards animal welfare came under scrutiny when he stated in an interview that he attended a cockfight in Puerto Rico and "relished it tremendously", adding that the United States has "too damn many" anti-cruelty statutes. He also expressed his avid support of dog fighting and bullfighting

A real piece of garbage this Novak is! How do this creeps get away with being above the law?

There needs to be more people who actually read the news and listen to what is being said, then maybe we have a chance at the laws being followed. Applause to everyone who took the time to at least voice their thoughts!
