Syndicated columnist Robert Novak says he has been issued a $50 citation after hitting a pedestrian while driving in downtown Washington.

Oh, can anyone tell me if it is "standard" in Washington D.C. to receive a fifty dollar citation, when you run someone down? Also, is it alright to drink and drive in D.C.? Just need to know...

          Ah, yes, another right-wing icon revealed as a first-class hypocrite. Let me count the ways. Rush Limbaugh and his overzealous fondness for prescription drugs...oh, well, give the boy a $400 million contract and let's see that hilarious mimicry of Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's Disease just for old time's sake...William Bennett, author of the "Book of Virtues" and self-proclaimed successor to the Matthew, Mark Luke and John, discloses he's an addictive gambler...and there he is on CNN opining on the body politic and all the saps of the unwashed masses who make it up (in other words, you and me)...oh, the list is endless (especially if you count fundamentalist ministers who stray)... now, we have Robert Novak, who sighed to a stop just short of a weep that Joe McCarthy really was a good egg and had it right, after all ("God rest his soul")...Bobby, it's one thing to rat on a CIA operative at the behest of your pals in the Bush-whacky administration and get off Scot-free while careers and lives are ruined, but quite another to splat a pedestrian across your windshield and contend you saw nothing — if you're that blind, you shouldn't be driving. Come to think of it, you're blind ethically, morally and professionally too, and they should take away your commentary forums, too.
